This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all Committee
Members of Nithsdale Wanderers Youth Football Club.


6. Communication and Conduct in Public
Committee Members will:
- Communicate clearly, responsibly, and respectfully with parents, players, and volunteers.
- Refrain from public criticism of the Club, Committee decisions, coaches, or volunteers.
- Use social media appropriately and avoid posts that could harm the Club’s reputation.
- Act as positive ambassadors for the Club at all times.

7. Confidentiality
Committee Members will:
- Keep sensitive matters discussed within the Committee strictly confidential.
- Share information only when authorised or when required for safeguarding purposes.
- Handle personal data in line with data protection principles and Club procedures.

8. Conflicts of Interest
Committee Members will:
- Avoid situations where personal interests conflict with Club duties.
- Declare conflicts of interest immediately when they arise.
- Withdraw from discussions and decisions where a conflict exists.
- Never use their role for personal gain, influence, or preferential treatment.

9. Financial Conduct
Committee Members will:
- Ensure all financial decisions are transparent, accountable, and justified.
- Follow Club procedures for spending, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Never engage in misuse, misrepresentation, or mismanagement of Club funds.
- Support the Treasurer in maintaining accurate and auditable financial records.
10. Working With Volunteers
Committee Members will:
- Support volunteers and recognise their contribution to the Club.
- Provide clear guidance, expectations, and communication.
- Encourage training and development opportunities.
- Address issues fairly and respectfully, using established procedures.

11. Breaches of the Code of Conduct
Breaches of this Code will be reviewed by the Committee. Where necessary, actions may
include:
- Verbal or written warnings.
- Temporary suspension from Committee duties.
- Removal from the Committee through constitutional procedures.
- Reporting to relevant governing bodies if required.
The response to any breach will be proportionate, consistent, and fair.

12. Agreement
By accepting a role on the Committee of Nithsdale Wanderers Youth FC, each member
agrees to uphold this Code of Conduct in full.
1. Purpose
This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all Committee
Members of Nithsdale Wanderers Youth Football Club. Committee Members are custodians
of the Club’s reputation, values, and governance. Their conduct must always reflect
integrity, fairness, and the best interests of the young people we serve.

2. General Responsibilities
Committee Members will:
- Act in the best interests of the Club, its players, volunteers, and wider community.
- Uphold the Club Charter, Constitution, Policies, and SYFA regulations.
- Promote a culture of respect, safety, transparency, and accountability.
- Make decisions that support long-term club development rather than short-term
convenience.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive discussions and information.
- Work collaboratively and constructively with other Committee Members and volunteers.
3. Conduct and Behaviour
Committee Members will:
- Treat everyone with dignity, fairness, and respect.
- Lead by example in behaviour, communication, and decision-making.
- Demonstrate honesty, impartiality, and professionalism in all matters.
- Refrain from any behaviour that may bring the Club into disrepute.
- Use appropriate language and maintain composure, even in challenging situations.
- Handle disagreements constructively, avoiding personal criticism or hostility.

4. Meetings and Decision-Making
Committee Members will:
- Attend meetings consistently and punctually wherever possible.
- Prepare in advance by reviewing agendas, reports, and materials.
- Contribute constructively to discussions and listen respectfully to others.
- Respect the Chairperson’s role in facilitating orderly meetings.
- Accept majority decisions and support them publicly, even if they disagreed privately.
- Disclose any conflict of interest before items are discussed and abstain where appropriate.

5. Safeguarding and Child Well-being
Committee Members will:
- Prioritise the safety, well-being, and rights of all children involved in the Club.
- Support the Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer in their duties.
- Report concerns promptly following the SYFA and Club procedure.
- Uphold safe recruitment practices and ensure compliance with PVG requirements.
- Ensure Club policies, training, and environments promote a safe culture.
